| ARC Discovery project on public transport |
|
|
| Professor David Hensher and Professor John Rose have been awarded an ARC Discovery grant titled "Valuation of service reliability and crowding under risk and uncertainty: neglected drivers of demand for public transport". The 3 year study from 2012 will identify the role that improved service reliability and reduced crowding play in influencing the switch from car to public transport for the commute. |

| Transport Opinion Survey: Australians reject carbon tax on bus fuel |
|
|
| The September 2011 quarter of the ITLS-Interfleet Transport Opinion Survey (TOPS) showed that Australians reject a carbon tax on bus fuel. More Information |

| Public Transport Customer Satisfaction Survey |
|
|
The Bureau of Transport Statistics has released the 2011 Transport Customer Survey which measures public transport users' satisfaction with train, bus and ferry services in Sydney on 27 different aspects of service. 86% of bus users were satisfied with their trip. Bus users were most dissatisfied with the bus keeping to timetable and being informed of service changes. More Information |

| Bus awards to NSW |
|
|
| Two NSW bus companies won national awards at the Bus Industry Confederation Conference in October. Comfort DelGro Cabcharge won the BIC Environment and Innovation award and Karim Hussain, Managing Director of the Blue Mountains Bus Company, won the BIC Achiever of the Year award. | Double-decker bus in service in Sydney |
|
|
The Sun Herald reported on 13 November 2011 that Northern beaches-based Forest Coach Lines will put into service a double-decker bus to reduce fuel consumption and cut city congestion. The 96 seat vehicle - being called the "Airbus A380 of buses" - delivers more passengers for less space at the bus stop. More Information Photo: Anthony Johnson |
